AIDSMAP Article : Adolescents with HIV in Zimbabwe are not being told why an undetectable viral load matters
Adolescents and young people have the poorest health outcomes among all age groups with HIV, due to low rates of viral suppression.
This AIDSMAP article shares the research carried out by the Centre for Sexual Health and HIV/AIDS Research and the University of Sydney with young people living with HIV that highlighted poor understanding of viral load. The research carried out interviews with young people to find out how they perceive viral load monitoring and results and how it affects their treatment engagement. The article also shares materials produced by Zvandiri to support children and young people to understand viral load testing.
