“CATS have transformed how we can support children and adolescents. We used to really struggle with difficult cases. Now with CATS, the children understand their HIV status and they take their ARVs. Those difficult cases with high viral loads and mental health problems we refer to the CATS and they help us. They also follow up on defaulters and make sure they come back. We feel proud when we hear other countries are now learning from us and starting CATS.”

“What I get from supporting my peers is mostly love. I give them love and the love comes back to me. The whole relationship is about love. The best part is sitting down with a client, just talking to them, getting to hear about their life and me also getting to tell them about mine. That’s the most fun part about being a CATS.”

– Beverly, CATS, Zimbabwe

“When the CATS started supporting me, I didn’t know my status. My parents were troubled by my behaviour. They had to engage the CATS and that is when I learned to take my pills and stay healthy. I can now safeguard my health because of the CATS.”
