Luckmore Pamhidzai

Luckmore is a young person openly living with HIV and working to achieve results for adolescents and young people. He is proactive in advocating for a better world for children, adolescents, young people, their families and communities. Luckmore joined Zvandiri in 2016 as a Community Adolescent Treatment Supporter (CATS) in a rural district, Mount Darwin, supporting his peer group to improve retention, reduce viral load and ensure they were psychologically well. With the Zvandiri ECHO Hub, Luckmore is instrumental in sharing Zvandiri expertise in Paediatric & Adolescent HIV and scaling up of the CATS model within the region through a south-to-south learning approach.

Luckmore is also a youth leader who provides mentorship to Zvandiri Youth Advocates in Zimbabwe and beyond, creating opportunities where there are gaps and sharing and celebrating successes. He provides mentorship both professionally and personally as he guides and supports his peers, advocates for care, and creates pathways for access to services and support. Luckmore is passionate about creating linkages between communities and health services and promoting sexual and reproductive health and rights for young people. In this regard he was selected to be the 2020 SRHR and HIV Youth Activist Award Winner in Zimbabwe.

Luckmore is currently studying his Honours’ Degree in Social Work and Professional Development Programme on Adolescent wellbeing at University of Zimbabwe. He is a strong communicator at interpersonal, programme and advocacy levels representing young people’s issues about SRHR on different media platforms. In May 2022, Luckmore married his wife in the garden at Zvandiri House.
