Sungano Bondayi has been with Zvandiri since 2014 and currently works as the communications officer managing Zvandiri’s social media and website, and supporting skills development around the use of Mhealth and digital devices for programme implementation. Sungano coordinates a project to provide text message-based support groups for the CATS and manages Zvandiri’s U Report work, that contributes to the UNICEF led global data platform working with Community Adolescent Treatment Supporters across the country to gather HIV and health related information. She is a champion for the integration of digital communication platforms which improve accessibility to information and reduce misinformation amongst trained peers and their clients. Sungano previously worked in Zvandiri’s M&E team tracking and analysing data collected through its programmes and working to strengthen the systems.
Sungano is passionate about writing and collecting stories and has developed unique skills in working with young people to coach and mentor them in the development of their own books, films, music, digital stories and artwork. She has published articles with local and global news sites as part of her work as an editor for the Zvandiri Magazine and as a member of the Key Correspondents’ network of citizen journalists, reporting on marginalised groups affected by HIV and their access to health.
Sungano is part of the communication tools development team for Zvandiri which is committed to the meaningful engagement of young people in the design and testing of programme tools for improved access to HIV services. She has also taken part in the production of advocacy projects which include producing the musical video, ‘This is Me’ and the Zvandiri Radio show.
